Reflection Writing

2015 has been an amazing year, we've done alot of fun and amazing stuff such as Yr 8 Camp, the picnic that happend at the start of the year and much much more, I have really enjoyed been a part of the senior block and Pt England School I also really enjoyed all the cool and amazing things we've done as a team.

My favourite thing throughout this whole year was going to the year 8 camp with the other year 8 students, I really enjoyed it because I got to know the other year 8`s a lot more better and also because we did lots of fun activities at the campsite there were lots of things to do such as kayaking with Mr Wiseman.

The most difficult thing this year was getting along with the year 7`s and making sure they were doing the right thing also making sure that they're ready for year 8 and they know what to do as leaders of the school.

If I were to grade myself out of 10 it would be a 5 out of 10 because I think I havnt done good enough this year I'm still learning and still trying to always do my work and be on task at all times, maybe next year I could do better.

This year has been such an amazing year I really enjoy being with the teachers at Pt England School because they have taught me so much they've taught me so will so that I could be ready to leave to college. The other thing I really enjoyed was getting to know the year 7`s individually, they have been awesome role models for next year as they move up to year 8 hopefully they enjoy year 8 as much as I did.

My ultimate goal for 2016 is to always listen to the teachers, focus on school, make sure i'm doing the right things and also finish off all my work because I want to have a good future and a good job. I'm really looking forward to meeting my new teachers and meeting new people and making new friends.

I`ve really enjoyed this year because so much fun stuff happend and I got to know the year 7`s more and also I was put into an amazing class with such amazing students and with an awesome teacher Mrs Moala.

Speech Speakers Writing

On Wednesday Pt England Intermediate had the opportunity to be gifted with 4 amazing speakers named Raenen Garcia, Gabriel Inia and Mr Sharma from Tamaki College and also the amazing Andrew Patterson, they came to the Pt England Senior block to talk to us about college and how we need to make the right choices as we get there, they also explained to us how college works and how it feels, from their point of view I think college will be fun and amazing at the start but as you move from year to year it gets a little hard because you have lots of tests that come up. Hopefully it'll be an amazing time at college.

Poetry Writing

Tearing walls ripping down

The smell of mold goes round and round

The taste of black Liquorice  makes everything vicious

Windy sounds come rushing through in different areas of the room
From wall to wall the smell gets stronger
Inside and outside no smell of delight
Trapped all alone and nowhere to go
But no need to stress it's just a big mess

Walking through the door

we notice the ripped walls

moulded roofs
with rats crawling through

and cockroaches

crawling round and round

As I arrived in the room I looked down.

And I see Paint falling off the roof and I start to drown

I could smell a Musty smell on the wall.
Than I start feeling small.
When I looked around I can hear the Mouse's footsteps running on the roof.
But I wish it would be soundproof
As I drew the Curtains then I feel goosebumps coming up my arm
As I walk around the room I have this kind of dry taste in my mouth like I want to spew it out.

The room starts to rumble
 The ceiling began to crumble
Smelling mould
I start to get a cold
Everything’s broken
And it can’t be spoken
Disgusting floors
Covered in paint
Broken draws
I wanted to faint

Andrew Patterson Speech

On Friday a speaker named Andrew Patterson came to Pt England School in the middle block to come and talk to all of the senior kids about mindset and about time management. We watched various videos, he talked to us about college and what to expect when we get there. One video had a really good message it had 7 effective habits which were Be Proactive, Think Win - Win, Sharpen The Saw, Seek First To Understand, then to be understood, Synergize, Put First Things First, Begin With The End In Mind. I really enjoyed the video because it gave us things to focus on when we head off to college next year, im really glad he came to our school to talk to us about college.

Recount Writing

As my class rushed to the hall to watch The Royal New Zealand Navy Band perform we were all very excited and happy, as we were walking there we could also hear our teacher calling out to us to get us to walk properly to the hall. Once we got there my class and I quickly sat down and gazed at the performers on stage. While we waited Mr Burt came in and introduced the Royal New Zealand Navy Band to us.

Once Mr Burt finished speaking one of the Navy members spoke to us about what they do when they are travelling on the ships and what it feels like to be part of the Navy Band Crew. Once he finished speaking the Navy Band played a few songs to us and we had to guess what songs they were playing on the instruments.

They started off by playing movie title songs and everyone shouted out what they thought the song was once they performed everyone started clapping and cheering for the performers who were performing on stage. As they were starting to play a song everyone had to guess the song, the song they played was Katy Perry Roar, once they played the song on the instruments everyone started calling out the title name of the song.

When the Navy Band performers heard everyone calling out the title of the song they asked everyone to stand up, then everyone stood up and started clapping their hands and moving side to side, looking around the hall I saw so many people smiling and laughing with the people beside them.

Once they finished playing various songs on the instruments one of the members of the band had a big large book that had information about the instruments, he started off reading and while he was reading the band members went one by one and they had to introduce their instrument to the audience there were lots of instruments.

When they finished playing one of the band members had to ask a question and the student shad to raise their a=hands to say the answer, so the band member walked around the hall to the people who had their arm up and he asked them what their answer was and they answered only about 4 - 6 went up including Mr Burt they got told to conduct the navy band.

When they stood at the front everyone started laughing a few moments later it was Mr Brts turn and once he started conducting all the teachers and students started laughing at how silly Mr Burt was conducting, once everyone finished conducting they all were told to be seated and they also got given a CD of all the songs that they play.

I really enjoyed having the Navy Band play at our school because they taught everyone so much about instruments and how to use them properly. I hope everyone enjoyed the band as much as I did.

Fun Time Tuesday

On Tuesday team 5 had the opportunity to do a team activity which included all students, every student was put into a team of 5 or 6. There were various activities that were held in room 1, room 2, the breeze, the hall foyer and the netball courts. All teams were given a little booklet where you had stack your points and where it shows what station you had to go to next.

After we were all put into teams and the teachers got their stations ready we all got to go with our teams to different stations. I had a team of 3 because some people didn't come to school. My team and I first went to room 2 with Miss Clark her station was called brain bust she called it brain bust because you had to use your brain while you were at her station, she gave everyone the same question and we had to figure out the answer by using our brains. My team and I didn't really know the answers to it so we gave it a try along with the help of Miss Clark, each team was given 2 questions and we had to figure them out as a team which meant each team member had to participate. In the end my team got given 20 points for participating in the activity.

Time was running out and we had to go to our next station, each team finished off their last question then we all had to walk sensibly to the street (working space) where Mrs Tele`a held her photo booth station, her station was all about taking photos and participating and just having fun, there were all sorts of costumes that we got to get dressed in and take silly photos. My team and I had lots of fun we all really enjoyed ourselves, there was lots of laughter and smiles, in the end Mrs Tele`a asked for everyone's booklets and wrote down all the points that the team achieved.

Our next station was the cookie face station, Mrs Flavell looked after that station her station was about getting a cookie and putting it on the top of your head then you had to use various facial expressions to try and move the cookie down towards your mouth, the goal for that challenge was to get the cookie in your mouth without letting the cookie fall. 5 people went first at a time, they were told to lay their heads back then place the cookie on the top of their foreheads. “Go” Mrs Flavell said then each person started doing different faces to try and get the cookie in their mouth and if you dropped it you had to pick it back up and wait for everyone to finish.

Everyone started trying and trying but still couldn't get the cookie in their mouth once everyone finished trying they all had to walk at the back of the line and wait for their turn. My team was up next the same thing was repeated “lay your head back and place the cookie on your forehead” then we did what were told “Go!” Mrs Flavell shouts, my team and I were struggling to get the cookie in our mouths, we tried and tried but no one got it in, then we were told to go to the back of the line. The 5 moved up and Mrs Flavell decided that we should altogether try and get the cookie in our mouth we all tried but till no one could get it in some people just took the cookie off their faces and ate it, we were running out of time so we had to move along to the next station.

Our final station was called pea pipes Mrs Hockly owned that station at her station there were little plastic bowls of Peas each team had to get a straw and suck the pea off the bowl into the straw and you had to walk really quick or run to the other side of the court where Mrs Hockly stood with 3 bowls for you to put your peas into. Off we go each team was given straws then we had to all stand up and wait for Mrs Hockly to say go, a few moments later all we hear is “Go!” then 1 by 1 everyone started sucking the peas into their straws and running to the end to Mrs Hockly to drop the peas into the other bowls that were on the other side. My team and I started sucking in the peas into our straws and running to the end to drop them into the other bowls that were on the tables across us, everyone was rushing while time was running out for us so we kept trying “Stop!” Mrs Hockly shouts “its finished” so everyone stopped and rushed to the bowls to see how their group did, my group obviously didn't win, but it was fine with us we just enjoyed having fun with the other students.

That was our last and final station, but I had lots of fun with the other kids of team 5, I got to spend more time with them and not just my own personal friends. My favourite station was the cookie face station because it was really challenging for everyone and I saw that everyone was just enjoying themselves and not worrying about what others were saying and thinking about them, I really enjoyed myself hopefully everyone had as much fun as I did. Overall I think the teachers did an amazing job of preparing this for the team 5 students.

Immersion Assembly

On Monday the first day of term 4 we had an immersion assembly. First we had to line up in our girl and boy lines ready to go to the hall. Once we go into our two lines we had to walk quietly to the hall and sit on the chairs quietly patiently waiting for Mr Burt to come and start the assembly off by welcoming us back to school. While he finished welcoming us to school he announced that each team from 1 to 5 are going to perform to the whole school and show them what their team is learning about.

Teams 1 to 4 performed, then it was team 5. The team 5 teachers walked to the front of the hall with different costumes on. As they got on stage each teacher was given a plate of noodles with chopsticks.  They had a challenge to see who could be first to finish the plate of noodles. First all the teachers lined up... “Go!” they heard Mr Wiseman say then they all rushed to eat the noodles off the plate.  A few moments later Miss Clark finished eating her plate of noodles while the other teachers were struggling to eat with their chopsticks.

Once they finished their noodles Mr Wiseman asked each teacher how it felt, and how they got to finish the noodles on time, each teacher was from a different country and they explained how their country eats and what they use to eat their food with. He started off by asking Miss Clark why was she the first to finish eating her plate of noodles she replied by saying “because I grew up eating food using chopsticks” then Miss Misela snatched the mic off Miss Clark's hand and said “i'm from Tonga, we don't use these chopsticks to eat our food with”.

A few moments later Miss Misela handed the mic over to Miss Peato when she got the mic she said “i'm from Samoa and we don't use anything to eat our food with because we use our hands!” when she said that everyone started laughing and clapping later on it was declared that Miss Clark won the challenge, she won the puppet named Maurice it was a prize that was given to her by Mr Wiseman.

While the teachers finished performing Mrs Tele'a walked out from backstage with various artworks of cartoon members which were Hulk Smash, Captain America, Superman and Batman the artworks were shown to the whole school to inspire them, that was the last part of team fives item then everyone started clapping and the teachers made their way off stage. So the thing that the teachers were trying to explain to everyone was how humans survive in various countries.

I really enjoyed team fives item because it was really fun and it was also enjoyable to watch, my favourite part was when Miss Clark had to gobble up all the noodles because it was a challenge and she wanted to win, hopefully everyone else enjoyed team fives item as much as I did.

The Missing Ball

On a cloudy lunch break at school my friends and I played touch on the court because the fields were too muddy to be played on.

First we split ourselves into two groups of five  in each team.

Then my team kicked off, once we kicked the ball into the air, the ball went flying in the air and dropped over into the kindergarten sand area.

After that my friends and I panicked and tried asking the pre school teachers if they can throw the ball over back to us. But none of them could hear us. So we tried and tried but still couldn't get anyones attention. By then we just walked away and left the ball there cause the raining bell went, so my friends and I rushed to class.

When we got to class my friends and I looked at eachother and smiled. We thought about what we were going to play with next week because our ball was missing and no one could find it.

Explanation Writing

Being sick is not nice Why? because if you are sick you may spread your sickness in many ways such as not washing your hands while you are very ill.

One of the easiest ways of staying healthy is eating a balanced range of food. This means eating from the 5 food groups with a focus on fruits and vegetables. If you do that then your body will receive all the nutrients it needs to be in the best condition to fight off invading germs.

One of the best ways to prevent yourself from getting sick is to not shake hands of a sick person because they could be very ill and if they shake your hand you could get sick very easily, if you do this you won't get sick.

Another way that can prevent yourself from getting sick is to be careful of doorknobs because the person who touched it before you might have been sick or they might have not washed their hands after using the toilets or playing outside with friends and family. This means you can either use paper towels or you can just use your sleeve to open up the door . If you do this you won't get  sick.

Now you all know various ways to prevent yourselves from getting sick, well hopefully you'll all stay happy and healthy during life so that we don't spread germs and get sick.
